The issue
Violence against women, lack of access to justice for survivors, and gender inequality in community decision-making.
Why it matters
Without local support structures, women facing violence in these villages have had limited access to counselling, legal aid, or a route into government protection systems.
What we do
Forms and builds the capacity of village-level women's organisations; trains women leaders and paralegal volunteers; provides counselling, legal aid and referral services to women affected by violence; runs training on women's land rights; works with men and boys to build a more supportive community environment; coordinates with government departments and panchayat representatives on domestic violence and women's rights; links women to social security schemes and livelihood opportunities.

Women, particularly those affected by or at risk of gender-based violence, across the programme's 40 partner villages.
How it works
Through 40 registered women's organisations that meet regularly, supported by trained paralegal volunteers who provide first-line counselling and legal referral, backed by coordination with police, legal aid and government welfare departments.

40 villages across Betalghat and Bhimtal blocks, Nainital district, Uttarakhand.
