The issue

Adolescents and young people in these communities have had limited structured access to information on health, gender equality, sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR), and mental health, and few platforms to develop leadership or voice.

Why it matters

Awareness and confidence at adolescence shape decisions — about health, relationships, and whether young people speak up against violence or discrimination — for years afterward.

What we do

Runs regular awareness sessions, dialogue programmes, capacity-building training and leadership-development activities for adolescents and youth in schools and communities; organises exposure visits (to police stations, women's help desks, banks, railway stations) to build girls' mobility and confidence; formed a district-level youth organisation; conducts district-level dialogue with National Adolescent Health Programme officials.

Who we reach

Adolescent boys and girls, and youth.

How it works

Through adolescent boys' and girls' groups formed at village level, regular in-school sessions, and structured dialogue platforms connecting youth with government health programme officials.

Geographic reach

Confirmed for 2025–26: 5 schools; 20 villages across 2 blocks (Kotabagh and Betalghat), Nainital district. Additional blocks — Bhimtal, Ramgarh, Dhari — appear in a lower-confidence source section and require verification.

Impact

  • Groups of 10 boys and 30 girls formed per village cohort across 20 villages
  • Regular sessions held in 5 schools (adolescent health, gender equality, life skills, SRHR, mental health)
  • 1 district-level youth organisation formed
  • 1 district-level dialogue conducted with health programme officials
